A couple weeks ago, we had a small surprise retirement party at our house and wanted to make a few seasonal changes. We had just gotten back from vacation, and I didn't want to spend a huge amount of time or money on decorations, however I did want to bring a little bit of autumn into the space. If you are having a small get together or just want to change it up for the seasons, pillows are a quick and effective way to make a noticeable change especially if you have a neutral sofa... which we talked about back in January here. I have taken a big pile of pillows (which my husband considers to be a slight obsession) and have mixed and matched them in various combinations to create 3 different looks, which we will be posting over the next few weeks so you can vote on your favorite!
The pillows above I have had for quite some time. In fact, some of those pillows were purchased for my first apartment, and yet they still are workin' it. There is quite a variety of textures including wool, velvet and boucle (a nubby, heavy textured fabric) as well as playing with color and pattern. It may seem like a lot, but with a neutral sofa a pop of color and pattern can go a long way! I personally love this combination for fall with the orange and plaids, but unfortunately it doesn't work so well with my cute $10 chartreuse lounge chair. No worries though, because I have created a similar version in the man cave!
Unfortunately, all these pillows weren't purchased, in fact most of them were made with beautiful fabric I got my hands on, and the ones I purchased are too old to find online anymore. However, we did a pillow roundup in March with some of our favorite places to find affordable pillows, which you can check out here! What do you think? Come back and see the other two looks for this fall and vote on your favorite!
