Ginger Apple Pumpkin Beer Cocktail

Bourbon and beer are always a winning pair!

Bourbon and beer are always a winning pair!

While the name of this cocktail might be a mouthful (please forgive my momentary lack of creativity- it's been a long week,) this made-for-fall concoction is a real mouthful of warm, spicy, and sweet flavors, perfect for sipping on chilly fall evenings or enjoying with friends at classy tailgating parties (if such a thing exists.) The ingredients list might seem like a lot of robust flavors for one glass but trust me they work- wonderfully! Just be careful- these dangerously delicious drinks go down easy but pack a powerful punch!

Ginger Apple Pumpkin Beer Cocktail

makes 2 delicious servings

3 oz. good quality bourbon (I used my standard Bulleit)

1 oz. ginger liqueur

6 oz. pumpkin beer (I went with Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin Ale)

2 oz. fresh apple cider

sugar and cinnamon for the rim garnish

lemon wedge

large ice cubes

optional garnishes of apple slices and cinnamon sticks

To make:

  1. In a small dish combine a couple of tablespoons of granulated sugar with about a tsp. of cinnamon and blend together. Wet the rims of your glasses with the lemon wedge and dip in the cinnamon sugar mix. Don't forget this step- the sugared rim really seals the deal on this cocktail!
  2. Add a large ice cube or two to each glass and divide the rest of the ingredients between the 2 glasses. Give the mixture a gentle stir and garnish as desired. Or if you're like me dive right in and enjoy!!
The combination of warm, rich flavors with a sweet cinnamon sugar rim makes this drink a strong contender for my favorite fall cocktail.
