This past weekend a little bit of Paris was brought to Cincinnati with the Diner en Blanc, and I was lucky enough to go with 4 lovely ladies! The event launched 27 years ago in Paris and has gained popularity reaching 15,000 participants a year internationally. I had never been before, but had heard so much about it that I was dying to go... a party all in white, picnicking with 2000 other people in a mystery location... how could it not be a fabulous evening? I invited Tyler who quickly declined, and I turned to my girlfriends to enjoy a fancy night out! Leading up to the event it was a bit more work than I expected - gathering tables, chairs, dishes, food & wine, but within minutes of arriving at our destination I realized it was one of the coolest and most distinctive experiences I have been a part of. The best description I can give for the event is one grand magical pop up dinner!
We arrived at our bus location and discovered that the secret location was just down the street on Woodburn Avenue in Walnut Hills. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but the entire street was blocked off, the church bells chimed every hour and the sky was absolutely gorgeous! It was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed a few bottles of champagne, a cheese tray, salmon patties and a few sides. A live band played throughout dinner and then a DJ took over at some point, and the whole thing turned into a huge dance party in the streets!
How magical is all that white? I thought I would go once and check the event off my list, but I have to admit I am already thinking of next year and a little birdie told me that it is all happening in June & it is going to be "epic!" So until next year...
